ResidencyBureau.com was started in 1999 by Metro Chek, Inc., a tenant-screening company that has provided verification services to rental management companies on the East Coast since 1988. The concept of the Residency Bureau was formed to meet the needs of Metro Chek’s clients in the wake of escalating prices by competitors. The accuracy of the competition's court record reports was also in question (i.e. incorrect data, wrong phone numbers, numerous listings for a particular name). These inconsistencies continue to make it extremely difficult for rental companies to verify information expediently on landlord/tenant reports.

The Residency Bureau prides itself in supplying exact social security number matches and phone numbers to verify information. The Residency Bureau’s reports also contain other helpful information, such as failure-to-vacate notices, money judgments and collection histories from rental properties.

With millions of filings from 1995 to present, the Residency Bureau contains extensive on-line information regarding landlord/tenant filings from the following states: Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington DC. This database is updated on a daily basis and is continuing to expand rapidly into other states.
